I joined Copeland Road Governing Body as a parent Governor in 2005. I enjoyed the role so much that I put myself forward for the role of vice chair a year later and was successful. I was involved in the appointment of our current Headteacher, Mr Nodding in 2007 and subsequently took on the role of Chair of the Governing Body the same year.
Once my daughter left Copeland Road Primary School to go to Staindrop Academy, I moved from being a parent governor to a co-opted governor. The role of school governor is challenging at times but I have found it to be very rewarding and would recommend it to anyone who has the time to be involved in their local school.
