NETBALL COMPETITION
Our first sports competiton of the year and our Year 6 netball team have secured their place in the play-off finals. They played 6 other primary schools and lost only one game against the group winners Hunwick. The whole team displayed their versatility and were complemented on their fast play and great footwork. A huge congratulations for a 2nd place finish and a silver medal!
Euros 2024
Our school football team were entered into a European style competition. They represented Croatia and played some fantastic football. Although they finished third in their group, this wasn’t quite enough to take them through to the quarter finals. However, the team were in high spirits, arranged a friendly match with another school and supported the teams playing in the finals. Fantastic role models for our school!
Girls’ Football World Cup
Our girls’ football team entered a tournament in the style of the World Cup. They were representing Germany and played some fantastic football. Some of our girls had never played football competitively before and were fantastic role models for our school. The girls made it to the semi finals and finished in fourth place. Well done!
Sports Hall Athletics
It was fantastic to see so many of our Year 5 & 6 children take part in the sports hall athletics competition at Bishop Barrington. The children competed in jumping, throwing and running events, the highlight being the relay races. Well done to all athletes.
Cross Country Competition
On a cold and muddy November morning, our KS2 cross country team were out in action. Children from Year 3,4,5 & 6 were competing against children from 16 other primary school at Staindrop Academy. There were some amazing individual performances on display and we are very proud of everyone who took part. A big congratulations to Charlie and Iyla who have both qualified for the County finals in March.
Netball World Cup
Our first competition of the year was the Netball World Cup. Some of our Year 5/6 children took part on this very competitive netball tournament at Bishop Barrington. The team worked incredibly hard and were true ambassadors for our school. They showed excellent understanding of the game and their defensive skills were brilliant. We are looking forward to the netball league in the Summer Term.
Intra Rounders Competition
Year 4, 5 & 6 spent the afternoon playing in an intra rounders competition. The three classes were placed into 4 mixed teams and put their bowling, batting, running and team work skills into action. Each team played each other once, the results determined who was placed into the finals games for 1st and 2nd or 3rd and 4th position. The red team were our overall winners with a convincing win in the final. A fantastic afternoon for all involved.
Athletics Competition
Our Year 5/6 athletics team went to Bishop Barrington to compete in 60 m, 100m, 800m and relay running events. The field events were shot put, howler throw, standing long jump and triple jump. All athletes took part in a track and field event. The children were in high spirits and tried their very best.
Congratulations to Charlie and Iyla who won their 800m races. Iyla’s time meant she has qualified for the County competition in July. Well done to all of the boys who qualified for the final of their track events and to Anna-Mae for making the final in the 60m sprint.
