Festivals - Copeland Road Primary

Year 3 and 4 cricket festival

In the Summer Term, classes 3 and 4 went to Bishop Auckland Cricket Club to take part in a cricket festival. They got to practise and learn new cricket skills and then play mini games of cricket against some of the local primary schools. The feedback from the children was very positive and they had really enjoyed this experience.

Handball festival

Year 5 went St John’s to take part in the handball festival to play games against other local primary schools. The class made two teams and put their PE skills into practice to play some very competitive handball. The communication and teamwork of the children were amazing.

Multi skills Festival

Reception, Class 1 & 2 had a great morning using their fundamental movement skills during our Multi skills Festival.

Year 5 Dance Festival

Class 5 have been working on a dance routine to Uptown Funk. They performed this at a dance festival alongside 15 other primary schools.

Year 5 Handball festival

Year 5 went to St John’s to participate as a whole class against other local primary schools in a handball festival organised by Education Enterprise. The children remembered the skills and tactics needed from their PE lessons in Year 4. The children thoroughly enjoyed their morning.

Kurling and Boccia Festival

Class 2 had a great time at the Kurling and Boccia Festival. The event was held at Bishop Barrington Academy. The morning saw the children play a variety of team games based around Kurling and Boccia.

Danish Long Ball

On Friday 30th April, Education Enterprise came into school to deliver a Danish long-ball festival for classes 5 and 6. The morning was great fun and enjoyed by both children and staff. It was fantastic to see the children exploring a new competitive sport, whilst working on team-work, communication and resilience.

Staindrop Mini Olympics

On Monday, 17th May, Mr Hughes came to school from Staindrop Comprehensive School to work with all of the children in Year 5. They enjoyed running, javelin and long jump and were able to record their own time and distance. The children compared their own results with that of the World Record holders and were very impressed.
