Reception and Year 1 love stories and this week we were delighted to have students from Bishop Auckland College visit us for a story-telling workshop. We had four exciting activities to do and we listened carefully to the instructions because everything we made was to help us bring each story to life!
Class 2 assembly
Friday 9th March 2018 saw Class 2 showcasing all of their work in front of the whole school and proud parents’. The children have studied a range of explorers’ in history this term and their favourite was Neil Armstrong. The children recreated the Apollo 11 space launch, recited a poem they’d created as a class and also sang a version of Fly me to the moon. Everyone commented how well the children did, we were all very proud!
Football League
The Year 3 and 4 football team have been taking part in a football league for the last 4 weeks at the Alun Armstrong Centre, and have done themselves extremely proud winning 12 out of a possible 14 games. They finished joint first, which meant they had to play a final against another school. The game was very competitive and the boys did their very best going 1-0 up in the game, but were pipped to the post losing 2-1. Mr Plews and Miss Mangles were very impressed with the team over the last few weeks and are looking forward to seeing the team develop.
A big thank you to Amanda Shoulder, providing the team with trophies for finishing runners-up.
The Wind in the Willows
The children had an exciting afternoon on Wednesday 21st February 2018, watching and singing along to a version of The Wind in the Willows. The story was brought to life by actors from Image Musical Theatre. Some of our children were lucky enough to be cast a role in the production! The music, costumes and backdrop all contributed to a memorable afternoon for all.
Destination Judo
Children from across the school have had lots of fun over the past two days, getting a taster for Destination Judo.ย The children experienced a variety of games that tested their balance, co-ordination and reaction.
Our local British Judo club is held at King James 1st Academy in Bishop Auckland, we hope any child that enjoyed the taster session takes the opportunity to visit their local club.
Year 5 Sportshall Athletics 2018
Class 5 represented our school at King James on 26th January 2018, taking part in the Sportshall Athletic Competition. All pupils took part in track and field activities. Everyone had a brilliant day and behaved well.
Mackenzie P ‘The best part was when we all had to race! Everyone was cheering so it felt like we were doing well!‘
Owen C ‘I enjoyed taking part in the javelin event.‘
Class 4 assembly
Class 4 did an amazing job with their class assembly, which they performed in front of their peers & parents. The assembly was based upon their recent history topic which was all around the Romans. The assembly included factual information in the form of a newspaper report, singing and role play by the children.
