All classes have been doing lots of work about Anti-Bullying and they shared this in a special whole school assembly. There were some great poems and lots of brilliant discussions. We had a famous gatecrasher in our assembly – Pudsey! He was very impressed by all of the hard work and enjoyed listening to what had been happening.
Choose Respect
It has been Anti-Bullying Week with the theme of ‘Choose Respect’. We ran a cake design competition that was won by Sophie. She has then turned her design into reality (with help from Miss Houghton and Macey!) so we could enter the Educate and Celebrate Bake-a-thon. Fingers crossed for our entry.
Personal Data – Leaflet for Pupils
‘The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most important change in data privacy regulation in 20 years. The regulation will fundamentally reshape the way in which data is handled across every sector, from healthcare to banking and beyond.’ https:/eugdpr.org
Inline with the new GDPR regulations we thought it was important for the children from across Key Stage 2 to be made aware of the data we hold about them and why it is needed. The children found the information useful and it has prompted them to start thinking about keeping their personal information secure outside of school.
Story Telling Workshop
The children from across the school had a fantastic time on Monday 12th November 2018 taking part in story telling workshops. The sessions were with Chris Bostock and were aimed at engaging children to listen and to re-tell stories. An additional after school session for children and parents’ was a huge success and enjoyed by all.
Fancy Dress Disco 2018
The children from across the school had a fantastic time at the Fancy Dress Disco. The children enjoyed dancing and eating their hot dogs. Well done to the winners from each class, it was difficult picking a winner when everyone looked so good! A huge thank you to everyone for making such a fantastic effort with costumes.
World War 1 Performance
The children from across the school enjoyed a performance by Artefact Theatre on Monday 29th October 2018. The show was based around two children (puppets) researching into their past and discovering they had relatives who had been involved in WW1, as a soldier and a nurse. The fun, interactive performance showcased the sacrifices made by men and women in WW1 but also how love and hope were ever present. The children really enjoyed it, especially having the chance to dress up in some of the costumes.
First World War Centenary
2018 marks 100 years since the end of the First World War. To recognise this significant moment in history each class created a piece of artwork which is now proudly displayed in the hall.
