Investing in Children Membership Award
We are pleased to announce that we have achieved the Investing in Children Membership Award. This is awarded to schools and other organisations that can show that they listen to the views of children and young people and make changes as a result of this. This is a small excerpt from the report:
‘The children I met with were confident that they were being listened to by everyone in the school and are able to identify the changes that have been made as a result of dialogue. They were also happy to talk about ideas that they felt still needed to be improved in the school, which shows they have a space to express any of their ideas. As a result, I fully endorse that Copeland Road Primary School receive the Investing in Children Membership Award™ for another year.’

13th – 19th March is Sign Language Week
The aim of the campaign is to encourage people of all ages across the UK to take up the challenge of learning BSL for themselves and make everyone realise the importance of BSL, and how awareness can make a big difference.

Great British Spring Clean
Today Copeland Road were visited by Tidy Ted. Tidy Ted is an anti-litter mascot. He discussed the effects of littering on the environment and how the children can be part of the solution. Over the next two weeks, Copeland Road will be taking part in a litter pick to help protect our environment.
The British Red Cross
The British Red Cross have launched First Aid Champions for pupils aged 5-11 which teaches important first aid skills and is well worth a look!

Anti-Bullying Week
For anti-bullying week across school children were learning about what bullying is, how to stop it and who to speak to if you need help. Each class took it in turns to speak in assembly about what they had found out during the week. The children were very knowledgeable and were able to speak about what to do if you felt you needed help and support. The children also explained how they could help others and how we could continue to make our school a kind, friendly and welcoming place.
Children In Need
We would just like to say a huge thank you for helping us raise money for Children in Need! The children have thoroughly enjoyed raising money in school as you can see by the pictures below. We even had a visit from Pudsey Bear! We raised £157.25!! This has been donated to Children in Need earlier today. Thank you for your continued support!
Computing Celebration Event
Well done to everyone in Class 6 who demonstrated excellent teamwork and leadership skills at our first ‘Computing Celebration Event.’ Class 6 were given the objective of using all of the knowledge they have gained from their time at Copeland Road to lead a variety of computing based activities to the other classes in the school. Activities included using the Remote Control Cars, Bee Bots, Purple Mash on the iPads, Millie’s Mouse Skills on the desktops as well as Vex Go. Everyone had a fantastic day! Thank you to parents and the governing body for attending.
Red Nose Day
Well done to everyone that took part in our Red Nose Day Celebrations 2022, together we raised £170.45.

Over the last two weeks we have managed to raise £525 from our sponsored read which is fantastic! Thank you to all those who have taken part and those who have sponsored pupils. We are very excited to buy some new books for each class!
